On Hold Old Mine Cut Diamond Ring
For antique diamond lovers, this one has all the charm and history of the Georgian era when diamonds sparkled in candlelight. A reclaimed true antique old mine cut diamond, with a gorgeous organic oval shape, which we have set in subtly textured 18k gold in an ageless signet style. The diamond is 2.22 carats but has the surface spread of a 5 carat diamond. This effect is maximized by the skilled setting of my master jeweler. A shallow diamond can sometimes have a transparency that is not altogether flattering in all lights, but in this case, we have set the diamond with platinum behind it and a closed back, effectively similar to the foiling of the original Georgian piece. In this setting it faces up far whiter than its GIA L color, and is luminous and sparkling. It sits very flush to the finger and is effortless to wear, very comfortable, and with that amazing spread, a very, very big look.
