Antique Old Cut Diamond Signet Ring

$9,985.00

A spectacular find from my European travels; an antique 18k signet style ring with a bezel set old European diamond with dazzling specs and a 2 carat spread. The diamond is estimated by my GIA trained jeweler as having a color of at least an H, if not better (it is so bright and white) and a clarity of VS. I cannot remove the diamond from its setting for certification without compromising the setting. The diamond is guaranteed to be at least 1 carat, but since we can’t weigh it, we don’t know exactly how many carats. However, on a diamond gauge which estimates its weight from its dimensions, it has a 2 carat spread. In other words, the face up of the diamond is similar in size and proportion to a 2 carat diamond. I would say its weight is somewhere between 1.5 and 2 carats. The shoulders are beautifully hand chased with a scrolling design.

British hallmarks for 1940, however the diamond and the ring appear to be much older and the style is more late Victorian circa 1900, as opposed to Retro.
